You went abroad and want to go again. Where should you start?
There are countless ways for students to continue their global engagement experience while still studying at NC State or even after graduation. Check out the list of resources below to begin planning for your next international opportunity:
STUDY ABROAD PROGRAMS
Many students will study abroad multiple times while at NC State. Browse summer or semester programs and talk to your academic advisor about how to best incorporate another term abroad into your degree plan.
ALTERNATIVE SERVICE BREAKS
The Office of Leadership and Civic Engagement facilitates national and international Alternative Service Breaks for NC State students during fall and spring break each academic year. Service site vary in topic, location, duration, and costs.
INTERNATIONAL FELLOWSHIPS
NC State’s Fellowship Office (UFO) works closely with students and alumni to apply for prestigious international fellowship programs, such as: the Fulbright U.S. Student Program, the Mitchell Scholarship Program, and the Marshall Scholarship Program. Meet with the UFO to learn more about the application processes and important deadlines.
THE PEACE CORPS
Created in 1961, the Peace Corps has allowed more than 240,000 Americans to conduct long-term community service and development projects in 143 countries.
INTERN ABROAD
Completing an international internship can provide practical professional experiences and may give you an extra competitive edge in an increasingly global job market. There are many internship providers or agencies which can assist returned study abroad students in securing an internship abroad in the destination of your choice.
TEACH ABROAD
There are many opportunities for recent graduates to teach English abroad in a variety of countries, including: TAPIF (France) and the JET Program (Japan). Many study abroad provider organizations will also offer teaching abroad programs such as CIEE and GoOverseas. More information also provided on our Teaching English Abroad page.
