Develop a Faculty-Led Program
NC State faculty and staff play a vital role in developing and managing study abroad programs that expand students’ academic perspectives, cultural knowledge and career readiness.
NC State Faculty-led Programs:
- Are designed with clear educational objectives that bridge academic content with experiential learning and understanding of the local environment and culture.
- Are led by full-time NC State faculty or staff members with relevant instructional or professional qualifications.
- Include supervision by full-time NC State faculty, NC State staff or approved education abroad provider for the duration of the program.
- Are scheduled during instructional breaks (summer term, spring break or winter break)
- Offer specific NC State course(s) or a set of pre-approved courses for transfer credit from a host institution.
- Demonstrate long-term viability through a self-supporting financial model and a consistent recurring schedule (annually or biennially).
- Are taught outside the United States and its territories.
- are approved and administered by the Study Abroad Office (REG 02.55.01) and sponsored by NC State.
Semester-long and/or academic year study abroad programs are only offered in partnership with a host institution abroad or an approved education abroad provider organization.
NC State also maintains semester study abroad opportunities for students by partnering with international institutions through bilateral exchange partnerships. See below for more information on exchanges, existing partners, and the University process for considering a new exchange agreement.
