Sara Boro (She/Her)

Assistant Director of Group Programs

(she/her/hers)

Bio

Sara joined the Study Abroad Office in May of 2022. As Assistant Director of Group Programs, she is responsible for directing new group program development and administration, supervising the international program coordinators, assessing group programs, and coordinating student health and safety support/conduct concerns as they relate to group programs.

Sara holds a Master of Science in College Student Affairs and a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies with a minor in Spanish from Eastern Illinois University. Sara studied abroad for the first time as a freshman in Ecuador on a faculty-led Spanish language program. From that moment, she was hooked and ended up studying abroad twice more as an undergraduate and once as a graduate student! As a sophomore, she spent a semester at the University of Salamanca taking classes in Spanish language and culture. After her junior year, she participated in another faculty-led program to New Zealand and Australia. As a graduate student, she completed one of her required internships at the University of Hyderabad in India.

Before coming to NC State, Sara served as a volunteer with the US Peace Corps in Guatemala and worked as an Education Abroad Advisor at Kansas State University. When not in the office, Sara is probably cuddling her dog Cooper, going to a comedy show, soccer game or live music event, or out exploring some local hiking trails.
