Botswana has faced both public health challenges due to high HIV/AIDS prevalence and social-environmental conflicts between Batswana and San peoples in the Moremi Game Reserve and the Okavango Delta. Involving faculty from NC State and the University of Botswana, this program will explore the political and economic history of the country, the culture of its peoples, the public health issues facing the country, as well as the socio-cultural and environmental issues of the San population in the northern part of the country. The program will include weekend trips to locations around Gaborone (including the Mokolodi Game Reserve) and a longer excursion to the Moremi Game Reserve, Chobe National Park, and Victoria Falls (in Zimbabwe).
