Events

For a general overview of orientation events, please reference the descriptions below. Specific details for each event will listed in your orientation schedule. Don’t forget to check your folder to find out information about your immigration check-in, academic advising appointments, and immunization appointments. Some orientation sessions are organized by group, so it’s important to keep track of your assigned group number and letter.

Orientation Support

Before arrival, exchange students will be contacted by their Orientation Leader(s). Orientation Leaders work with small groups of new international exchange students to help them prepare for their arrival at NC State.

Students who have studied abroad in past semesters will also be helping with orientation events. If you see one of these students, ask them where they studied abroad!

Thursday, January 2nd

Welcome to NC State! If you’ve arrived early and are looking to rest before move-in begins, please stop by our welcome area to set your bags down, have some snacks, and meet NC State students. The lounge will be open from 8am-3pm.

If you are living on-campus, you will be able to move into your new home for the semester beginning at 3pm!

Now that you are at NC State, make sure you obtain your student ID card and bring $5 to add to your account for printing. The office is open from 8am-6pm on January 2nd.

New international students are invited to come relax and celebrate your arrival at NC State! There will be free pizza provided. Join us and continue getting to know your fellow members of the Wolfpack!

Go shopping at Target to get all your room essentials. Volunteers will be there to walk you over from the New Student Social.

Friday, January 3rd

Come meet the Study Abroad Office and learn more about your exchange program. Check-in will begin at 8:00am. We will cover several topics including the Academics, Campus Life, NC State Resources, etc. Orientation sessions are all mandatory, so please arrive no later than 8:20am to check-in. Remember to bring your passport and DS-2019.

Stop by the computer lab during your assigned time in your Welcome Letter to complete a check list and print your I-94 document.

Saturday, January 4th

Students that were accepted to live in the Global Village are required to attend this orientation.

Sunday, January 5th

Student volunteers will meet you and give you a brief tour of campus and take you around the academic buildings to show you where your classes are located. If you are a Poole student, make sure to grab lunch during this time as well.

This is a required orientation for all undergraduate students in the Poole College of Management. Please check your Welcome Letter for more information, or to see if this applies to you.
