Semester in Spain Program: Insurance Coverage Policy

  • All students studying abroad on the Semester in Spain program will be billed for insurance directly by UNC Charlotte. This will fulfill the mandatory UNC system insurance requirement.

The Study Abroad Office recommends that all students enroll in international health insurance while abroad AND remain enrolled in a domestic insurance policy that will cover the student in the U.S., in case of an emergency while studying abroad that requires the  to return home for medical treatment.

Students in these programs will need to contact Melissa Dutton (melissa_dutton@ncsu.edu) in Student Health to request enrollment in the Student Blue insurance for the semester abroad. The cost per semester is $688. An additional Student Health Center fee of $138.51 can be added for use of the Health Center before and after the program. Students will not be automatically charged or enrolled.
