NC State Semester/Academic Year Direct Enroll Programs: Payment Policy

  • The application charge (exact cash, check or money order made payable to NC State in U.S. funds drawn on a U.S. bank; no credit cards accepted) is due to the SAO by the application deadline.
  • The NC State Study Abroad Office portion of the application charge is only refundable if the student is not accepted to the program. Students who withdraw their application before decisions are made will not be refunded the fee. Any additional portions of application charges are subject to the refund and payment policies of their respective organizations. A $25 fee will be charged for returned checks.
  • Students directly enrolling at a university abroad pay tuition to the host university. Housing options vary by university and students are responsible for both arrangement and payment for accommodation.
  • All students participating on NC State programs are required to purchase UNC System Health Insurance. An invoice will be provided at orientation. Please note that NC State student accounts will NOT be billed for this insurance.
  • Insurance payment is due on the following dates:
    • For programs during Fall 2014: July 3, 2014 by 4pm.
    • For programs during Spring 2014: December 6, 2013 by 4pm.
  • Any payment received or postmarked after these dates will be assessed a $100 late fee.
  • Students must purchase plane tickets individually. This will often require payment/deposit before Financial Aid disburses, so please plan accordingly.
  • Please contact the host university with any questions on their payment policies.
