Study Abroad Advisor
As a Study Abroad Advisor, Bethany works students from the College of Sciences, College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, and Wilson College of Textiles through the application process. She also manages the office’s social media, acts as a liaison with third-party providers, and organizes the annual Study Abroad Fair.
A high school study trip to Costa Rica first sparked Bethany’s interest in other languages, cultures, and foods. This led her to study Spanish and International Studies as an undergraduate at UNC-Chapel Hill, where she was active in the Campus Y and participated in APPLES service learning programs, including an alternative service break to Guanajuato, Mexico. Bethany had the opportunity to study and complete an internship abroad in Spain while at UNC.
Before joining the NC State Study Abroad team, Bethany lived abroad for 8 years in Madrid, Spain, working first as an ESL teacher and later as an on-site programs coordinator for a study abroad provider. After returning to North Carolina in 2017 to complete her Master’s degree, Bethany completed internships at RTI International and the NC State Study Abroad Office.
Bethany holds a Master’s degree in International Studies from NC State University and a BA in Spanish and International Studies from UNC Chapel Hill. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, cooking, indoor cycling, watching Spanish series on Netflix with her husband, and spending time with her dog, Rosita, who understands the words “breakfast”, “dinner” and “treat” in English and Spanish.
