The staff at the Study Abroad Office are here to help you throughout your exchange. If you have questions or concerns and are unsure who to talk to, start with the incoming exchange coordinator. We are happy to help you, answer questions, and guide you through the procedures of NC State so that you can enjoy your experience here in the United States. Our office is located in 315 University College Commons.
The Office of International Services provides visa and immigration advising for all international students at NC State, and is located in 320 Daniels Hall. If you plan to leave the US for any reason during your stay, you will need to have your I-20/DS-2019 signed by their office. This includes travel to the Bahamas, Caribbean, Canada, Mexico, etc.. All visa questions should also be directed to their office.
The NC State Campus Police Department is a section of the Raleigh Police Department. This means that you have the safety of a full police department on campus. Campus Police offers self-defense seminars, escort services to walk you across campus in the dark, and a variety of additional safety and theft prevention programs. Students can call 911 or 919-515-3000 in the event of an emergency on campus.
Student Legal Services is located in Pullen Hall. They offer advice on legal matters, letter-writing, placing phone calls on a student’s behalf, settlement negotiations, drafting of legal documents, legal document review, court representation in matters of $3,000 or less, criminal records, resource referrals, and educational materials.
Harassment is unwanted or unpleasant words or actions, and may be personal, cultural, or physical. Harassment may occur from other students, faculty, staff, or strangers. We hope this will not happen to you. However, if you have questions or concerns regarding unlawful harassment, you are encouraged to use Office of Equal Opportunity as a resource.
The LGBTQ Pride Center serves students of all sexual orientations, gender identities and gender expressions, including gay, lesbian, bisexual, pansexual, asexual, queer, transgender, genderqueer, gender fluid, gender non-conforming, non-binary, agender, intersex and questioning students and their allies. It strives to increase the NC State campus community’s understanding of diversity by working collaboratively to raise awareness, promote respect, and create a culture of equity, inclusion and social justice.
The mission of the Women’s Center is to build and create a community of authentic and engaged allies and leaders to support student success and retention; enhancing the campus climate through education, advocacy, support and leadership development.
Multicultural Student Affairs (MSA) researches, designs and implements unique programs that promote the pursuit of academic success, retention and graduation of students, with an emphasis on African American, Native American and Hispanic/Latino students. Our programs and services expand students’ cultural horizons while honoring their respective cultural experiences. We work to bring academic enhancement opportunities, cultural awareness activities and student leadership development to all students on campus.
The African American Cultural Center promotes awareness of and appreciation for African American and other African descent experiences through activities and events that enhance academic excellence and strengthen cultural competence for the campus and surrounding communities.
NC State’s interfaith prayer and meditation rooms are meant to serve and support all students and the holistic wellness of the university community, as scientific evidence demonstrates the significant cognitive and physiological benefits of meditation. The spaces allow individuals of all religious faiths and non-religious beliefs to experience a place for peace, prayer, meditation and/or reflection throughout the day.
The Counseling Center provides support for students with academic, emotional, and social concerns. Exchange students experiencing culture shock or stress can consult with a counselor confidentially.
The Disability Resource Office (located in the same hallway as the Study Abroad Office) works to provide equal access to opportunities on campus to students with disabilities. Their office will determine eligibility for accommodations for students and also offers test proctoring services all semester.
