For some incoming exchange students, adjusting to the U.S. education system can be one of the biggest challenges throughout the semester.
Below are some general guidelines regarding academics at NC State, as well as links to additional information.
- At NC State, incoming exchange students can expect to experience more “continuous assessment” in their courses. This means courses will require frequent quizzes, tests, papers, and other assignments throughout the semester that will all count towards the final grade.
- Incoming exchange students studying at NC State for more than one semester must maintain a 2.0 grade point average their first semester to sustain their visa status.
Academic integrity (cheating, plagiarism, etc) is taken very seriously at NC State, and all incoming exchange students are expected to familiarize themselves with the standards for academic integrity. The Study Abroad Office will provide an overview of the academic integrity standards during orientation.
- Incoming exchange students are eligible to participate in Academic Training either during or after their study period.
