Per UNC System guidance, all university-related domestic and international travel remains restricted until further notice due to COVID-19 and all study abroad activity has been suspended for fall 2020. This difficult decision was made by the UNC System for all campuses and was made with your health, safety, and academic progress in mind. The decision impacts all NC State student international education activities for fall ‘20: all study abroad, including non-NC State programs, and university-affiliated student international activities.
- Defer their application to spring 2021 or fall 2021. If students choose to defer, their nomination will be prioritized by NC State; however, as always, program acceptance is dependent upon the host institution and subject to the enrollment availability.
- Withdraw their application. If students choose to withdraw, their NC State study abroad admin fee will be refunded.
Please note, the refund and deferral options are only being offered to Fall 2020/Academic Year 2020-21/Spring 2021 applications due to the COVID-19 global pandemic. The Study Abroad Withdrawal and Refund Policy applies to all other and future terms (including if you choose to defer your application to a future term).
The Study Abroad Office has adopted a COVID-19 Admin Fee Refund Policy to offer students the most flexibility during these uncertain times, due to the global pandemic.
Students who applied to study abroad for the Fall 2020, Academic Year 2020-21, and Spring 2021 are eligible to withdraw their application for any reason due to concerns related to COVID-19 and will receive a full refund on the admin fee. Additionally, students may request to defer their acceptance to a future term. Nominations will be prioritized by the Study Abroad Office; however, as always, program acceptance is dependent upon the host institution, subject to the enrollment availability, and maintaining eligibility.
The Study Abroad Withdrawal and Refund Policy applies to all other and future terms (including if you choose to defer your application to a future term).
