Think and Do in 2: Global Storytelling Competition

Student competitors will share their global story in a timed, 2-minute presentation with six image slides. Each slide will appear strictly for 20 seconds. Guests and attendees will vote for their favorites.

Did you study abroad, participate in an international service-learning or internship, or are you an international student yourself? The application is open now through October 15 for the fifth annual Think & Do in Two: Global Storytelling Competition.

  • Contestants must submit 6 high-resolution images (preferably in .jpg format)
    • Images must original work (no stock photos permitted)
    • Images should not contain any text and must be submitted through the online submission process
    • Images should be named, “last name_image number” to identify the contestant and order images should be displayed
    • During the competition, each image will be displayed for 20 seconds before automatically moving to the next image
  • Contestants must submit the text of the spoken portion electronically through the online form and may not exceed 2 minutes (approximately 260 words, depending on speech speed of entrant); any submissions beyond this length will not be considered
  • Upon submission, all entries may be used by NC State University for non-commercial publication. All submissions are subject to editing for the final publication.
  • Contestants are not eligible to receive multiple awards.
  • No late entries will be accepted.
  • Visual works should not depict an excessive use of alcohol, illicit drugs, violence, sex, or other inappropriate material. Oral presentations should also abide by these standards.
  • The artwork may be in black and white or color.
  • Performances will be recorded live and will be available from NC State Global.

The Global Storytelling Competition will be evaluated by guest judges using a Think and Do in 2 Judge’s Rubric. The judges will select the Competition Winner and First Runner Up. The Audience Favorite will be awarded based on audience vote – each attending audience member will receive a ballot and be able to vote for their favorite. Finalists are encouraged to invite their friends and family to attend.

Contestants will not be eligible to win multiple awards. In the event that more students apply to participate than the event can accommodate, a Selection Committee will review all applications and narrow the field down to a group of Finalists who will be invited to participate in the live storytelling competition.
