Low-Cost Programs

The Study Abroad Office knows that cost can be a huge concern for students when deciding on a study abroad program, but there are programs all over the world where the cost to live and study is the same or less than the costs at NC State!

The programs below are the most cost-effective at NC State.

Study abroad costs are estimates based on tuition, housing, meals, airfare, visa fees, etc. and are subject to change any time. Comparisons are made using NC State cost of attendance (tuition, on-campus housing, meals, etc.) as provided by the Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid.

Short-Term Study Abroad Programs*

*Note that some of these programs may not be available each year

Cost per Credit Hour

The on-campus cost per credit hour for the 2023-2024 Academic Year is approximately $1,120.

Cost per Day

The cost per day is calculated from the departure date from the U.S. to departure from the host country. Some classes have virtual or in-person meetings prior to/after these dates.

Semester Study Abroad Programs

To further offset the costs of study abroad, students should apply for scholarships, both from NC State and outside sources, as well as work with the Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid on other funding opportunities.
