Parents and Family

Approximately 20% of all NC State University students will study overseas by the time they graduate. Almost all study abroad students say that it was the most rewarding experience of their lives. The Study Abroad Office (SAO) regularly hears stories from students about the joys, academic and personal challenges, new friendships, and gained independence of a study abroad experience.

However, before the decision is made to incorporate study abroad into a student’s college career, parents and family members may have concerns or questions. The SAO hopes this section will answer some of the more commonly asked questions. If you or your student has additional questions, please contact the Study Abroad Office, and we will be happy to help.
