Italy: Engineering in Roman Times (Fall Break)
A new study abroad opportunity for fall 2021: study Roman engineering marvels in Italy! This course will be taught throughout the fall term with a fall break excursion to Italy. Participants will study Roman engineered structures and the societal, cultural context for why they were needed and then constructed. These design and cultural characteristics will be compared to how current designs are done in both Western Europe and the United States. Apply by March 15.
Namibia: Wildlife Aerial Observatory
Participants utilize aerial vehicles (drones) to Naankuse Nature Reserve to help better study and protect wildlife from poaching and further decimation. Geographically, Namibia is approximately six times larger than North Carolina, but the entire population is about 2.1 million people. It borders the Atlantic Ocean to the West and South Africa and Botswana to the South and East, respectively. Apply by March 1.
NC State Prague
The NC State European Center in Prague offers the opportunity for any student to study for a summer, semester, or year in Prague through a variety of design studios and general education courses. Special programs are offered at various times through several NC State University colleges and departments. Apply by March 1.
Semester in Spain
North Carolina's Consortium for Study Abroad provides this semester-long, intensive language program for intermediate-level Spanish speakers. Students take coursework in Spanish with other UNC System student participants, but have ample opportunities to engage with local students and faculty from Universidad de Cantabria. Apply by March 1.
