Why did you choose to study abroad?

To expose myself to a completely different environment and to see what it’s like living in a different country by myself.

What did you learn about yourself?

I’ve really surpassed my own expectations in myself in that I was able to settle really quickly over here and adjust to a new life.

What was one of your favorite parts about your program?

Getting the opportunity to connect with other international students, I’ve met some amazing people from all over the globe.

Did you live on campus or off campus? What was your experience like?

Off campus, it was great in seeing what it’s like not being dependent on my parents.

Did you have a meal plan while you were at NC State? Do you have advice for incoming students on choosing a meal plan?

I didn’t have a meal plan but they are a great outlet for any student living on campus.

What advice do you have for future incoming exchange students?

Nerves are a natural thing. Chin up, chest out and grab this experience with both hands!

Were you surprised by anything during your time abroad?

The academic system was a lot different here than in Ireland. Continuous assessment was new to me but I enjoyed it because it keeps you interested in what you’re learning each week!
