Business Administration- HR, Interpersonal Communication Focus
Why did you choose to study abroad?
To enhance my International business skills and to learn more about other cultures.
What did you learn about yourself?
That I am very easily adaptable, and able to go with the flow, and am independent.
What was one of your favorite parts of your program?
Building friendships with other students on my program and knowing that those people will remain my friends for the rest of my life.
What advice do you have to future study abroad students?
DO IT! everyone who has went abroad says it was the best part of their college career, and everyone who hasn’t says its the one thing they regret.
How did your study abroad experience prepare you for your future career?
It is my dream to one day work for an international company and conduct business with people of other cultures. I loved being able to have an internship abroad because I got first-hand experience of how some cultures can affect business activity, especially with communication differences. This experience confirmed my love for travel and interacting with people from different places, and this will prepare me when I do land my dream job with an international company.
In what ways did your identity have an impact on your experience abroad?
I had little to no guidance with searching for a program, the application process, and culture shock when I was abroad. I did everything on my own, but it was a great feeling to make it actually happen after all of my preparation.
Is there any advice you would give to other students who share your identity?
Use the disadvantage as motivation to become successful.
Where did you find support to navigate any challenges you faced abroad?
The NCSU study abroad office and ISA advisors.
Would you do it again?
