Program and Location:
Spring, University of Surrey; Guildford, United Kingdom
Why did you choose to study abroad?
Many many reasons, mostly to get a new protective- which I achieved.
What did you learn about yourself?
That I was capable of being hundreds of miles away from anyone that cared about me, and thrived.
What was one of your favorite parts of your program?
I bet most people would say traveling, which is easily the best part. It was amazing.
What advice do you have to future study abroad students?
Go to as many places as you can. Get outside of your comfort zone.
How were your classes abroad different than if you would have taken them at NC State? Did you take any field trips or do anything outside of the traditional classroom?
The University of Surrey uses independent learning. This means there is no homework and you will only have two total grades the entire semester. While this sounds easy, it proved to be very challenging. I enjoyed the change in protective that came with a different studying approach.
Would you do it again?
I would if I had the money and time.
