2013 Summer NC State Prague Institute Course Offerings:

MAC Summer 2013 Course

MBA 590 Sustainability and Business Businesses desiring competitive advantage and leadership have embraced sustainability as an integral component of their strategy. Businesses have come to the realization that they need to integrate sustainability into their strategy and implement sustainable business practices to remain competitive. Additionally, they have also discovered that in implementing sustainable businesses practices, they don’t need to do so the expense of the bottom line. This course will examine what it means to be “sustainable”, what strategies corporations employ to be sustainable as well as multiple ways businesses practice environmental and social responsibility towards their employees and society. This class is taught as a survey discovery class where much of what you will learn will come through self discovery activities and from sharing the results of your discovery efforts with fellow students. Due to the evolving nature of sustainability, this class is sustainable as many of the discoveries made during this class will be utilized in subsequent classes. Program Costs: $3300
Non-Refundable Study Abroad Application Fee: $300
Total Program Cost is $3600

It includes tuition, Study Abroad non-refundable application fee ($300), housing (double rooms)  with breakfast, field trips within the Czech Republic relevant to the program, cultural events such as opera, ballet or jazz club performances, visits to galleries and museums, a travel pass for use on Prague's public transport, a city map and phrasebook, Wi-Fi internet access and international accident and health insurance.

Not included are airfare, meals (other than breakfast), personal expenses.

Program Description:

This Study Abroad program provides MAC Class of 2013 and 2014 students an opportunity to participate in a three-week international summer experience.  The program is also open to full-time and part-time MBA students

Prague:

Prague is a magical city of castles, cathedrals, and cafes. Since the 1989 Velvet Revolution when the communist government was overthrown, Prague, once again, became the vibrant Heart of Europe. Its central location in Europe provides easy access to all European destinations. Twelve centuries of architecture - from Gothic, Baroque, Art Nouveau, Cubist to contemporary examples adorn the medieval city. Its rich cultural history in music, art, literature and film inspired Dvorák, Kafka, Mucha, Kundera and Forma, and continues today in many theaters, museums, music clubs and festivals.

The Prague Institute is in a 13th Century building inside a courtyard just a few minutes away from the Old Town center.

Application Information

Early Decision Deadline:

December 7, 2012. For early consideration and acceptance, the $300 Study Abroad application fee, all study abroad online forms and a $500 Prague Program deposit must be completed by the deadline.

Application Deadline:

March 22, 2013. $300 Study Abroad application fee and a $500 Prague Program deposit are due and all study abroad online forms must be completed.

Payment Deadline

April 5, 2013

Housing and Transportation

Students are housed in a residential section of the city and commute daily to the Institute by the modern metro (subway) system and/or trams.

Excursions and Cultural Events

The historic city of Prague provides a delightful setting for this study abroad experience. Participants will have the opportunity to enjoy cultural highlights (art, architecture, theater, opera) and to make a 3-day excursion to Munich or Vienna (TBD).
