The Location
Copenhagen is the largest city in Scandinavia with a population of over 1.5 million, and is the capital of Denmark. While the city has a rich history, Copenhagen is much morethan an ancient port. Today Copenhagen is the commercial, cultural and administrative center of Denmark. Although busy and noisy as any large city, Copenhagen still captivates visitors because it has managed to maintain some of its original charm. Compared to many other cosmopolitan cities, it is also considered a very safe city. With its many pedestrian streets, beautiful squares and narrow lanes, the inner city invites one to wander around and enjoy the atmosphere. Copenhagen is home to some of the most interesting artistic and archaeological museums in Europe. It is also a city of festivals: theatre, modern dance and ballet, classical, rock and jazz music, and sports - the city attracts international performers and participants for festivals throughout the year.
The University
CBS, Copenhagen Business School is - due to it's 14.000 students and 770 in permanent staff - the largest business school in northern Europe. Built in 1917 by the Danish Society for the advancement of Business Education as a privately financed institution, CBS strives to be among the best institutions of higher education in Europe. Most departments are located in or in close proximity to the future campus area in Frederiksberg and close to the center of Copenhagen. Courses in English are offered in the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration, and the Faculty of Language, Communication and Culture. A Danish "Crash Course" is offered the week prior to each semester for an additional fee. CBS also offers a "Buddy system" arrangement where each exchange student is assigned to a Danish "buddy" for help in getting through the first few weeks in Denmark. Throughout the semester various activities are planned for the international students and their buddies.
Accommodations
Accommodation for international students is organized through public and private housing companies. CBS also makes use of private renters, who have extra room available. CBS has a number of residence halls, mainly for international students, which are not necessarily located in the vicinity of the institutions of higher education. SeeCBS Student Accommodation for more information.
Internship program
CBS offers an internship program in International Entrepreneurship and Business Development for students that are enrolled in a graduate program and have a minimum of two years work experience. This is a credit-earning internship program that includes an intensive 3-week class period and an internship placement. For more information, please see the Internship Brochure.
