Study Abroad Office Mission Statement

The mission of the Study Abroad Office is to serve all North Carolina State University students by providing academically-based international experiences which will give them the skills to be active, informed, and culturally sensitive citizens in the global community.

In order to achieve this, the SAO will endeavor to increase NC State student participation in study abroad by:

• Developing and administering academically-based international programs with a commitment to quality, safety, and accessibility;
• Providing students with a high level of service, by assisting them in the selection of programs best suited to their needs and interests, preparing them to meet the challenges of an international experience, and providing them with scholarship opportunities;
• Developing and upholding policies which minimize risks and promote excellence;
• Advocating and collaborating with faculty and academic departments in a wide range of disciplines, to integrate study abroad into the curriculum, and to advance the internationalization of NC State;
• Articulating to the NC State community the importance of study abroad as part of a student's overall education.
