North Carolina State University (NC State) is located in the heart of North Carolina. The University is within minutes of downtown Raleigh, the state's capital. Because nearly 2,000 of NC State's 28,000 students are international, incoming exchange students find an international community awaiting their arrival.

Nearby Research Triangle Park boasts the highest per capita concentration of PhD's in the U.S. With approximately 50% of the employees in the Park working for multi-national companies, the area is quickly becoming a center of international activity.

Acclaimed as one of the countries top research universities, NC State is also known for its outstanding athletics program. From Engineering to The Arts, Medieval History to Animal Science, our programs are as diverse as the people who participate in them.

White Water Rafting

Various campus organizations offer unique travel and other opportunities for students attending NC State. The University is within two hours of the Atlantic Ocean and within three hours of the Blue Ridge Mountains. The area offers numerous opportunities for hiking, camping, surfing, boating, and various other outdoor activities.

NC State Courses and Colleges

Applicants request courses as part of their initial application. The Study Abroad Office Regional Advisors will pre-register students for courses, based on your requests, prior to your arrival. Then during orientation, students will meet with an academic adviser from their field of study at NC State. This adviser will assist them in making final course selections and changes.
