Housing for Exchange Students

Alexander Global Village

Alexander Global Village is an on-campus university residence hall devoted to introducing international students to American culture, exposing American students to other cultures, and making the entire community aware of global issues. Alexander Global Village is a residence hall with 50% international and 50% U.S. students. The U.S. students must submit a special application to live in Alexander and many of them are former participants in overseas exchange programs. In Alexander, there are many social and cultural activities with an international theme, and most students find living there to be a very enjoyable part of their experience at NC State.

The Alexander Global Village program features:

  • the pairing of international students and American students as roommates
  • student Ambassadors to assist in acclimating international students to American culture
  • a faculty-led programming series on global and cultural issues, through a partnership with the College of Humanities and Social Sciences (CHASS)
  • discussion programs and excursions focusing on international and global awareness

NCSU reserves a set number of rooms in Alexander Global Village for incoming Study Abroad student accommodations. Exchange Applicants have an opportunity to select Alexander Global Village as their choice for accommodations while here on exchange at NC State as part of their application process. These rooms will be assigned to incoming students based upon the time and date the housing application is submitted. Please note: if the demand for Alexander Global Village exceeds the capacity reserved for incoming students, we will work to place incoming Study Abroad students in suitable on-campus accommodation alternatives.

Other NCSU Housing Options

Exchange students also have the option to live in the on-campus Wolf Village Apartments, which is typically more appealing for graduate and older students.  Exchange Applicants have an opportunity to select Wolf Village as their choice for accommodations while at NC State as part of their application process. Please note: if the demand for Wolf Village exceeds the capacity reserved for incoming students, we will work to place incoming Study Abroad students in suitable on-campus accommodation alternatives.

If you do not wish to live on-campus in Alexander Global Village or Wolf Village, you will be responsible for making your own housing arrangements off campus.

Please see University Housing Cost Information for information about costs associated with living on-campus.
