Difference
between undergraduate and graduate students
In the
United States, undergraduate students are seeking their first university degree
(bachelor's degree) after high school. Undergraduates must enroll in at least
12 credit hours to be considered full-time students at NC State. If you are
working on your first degree at your home institution, please apply at the
undergraduate level.
Graduate
students are those who have completed one or more bachelor degrees at a college
or university. Graduate students must enroll in 9 credit hours per semester.
Please
note: To
be considered for study at the Graduate-level, official transcripts from all
post-secondary schools attended, including the bachelor's transcript containing
statement/verification of degree awarded and the date awarded must be submitted
to the Study Abroad Office.
Full
acceptance of an exchange student applying for graduate status is contingent
upon approval by the Academic Department to which the student is applying.
A change in application requirements for
graduate students
Effective
with Fall 2009 applicants, exchange students applying to NC State as a graduate
student are no longer required to submit reference letters, application fees,
and additional entrance exam scores.
MBA
applicants are still required to submit two reference letters, but they are no
longer required to submit application fees and entrance exam scores.
