How to Apply to NC State as an International Exchange Student

General Exchange Information:

This information is specific to students who plan to attend NC State for a semester or a year on an exchange between NC State and their home university. Your home university must have a formalized exchange program with NC State in order to be eligible for this program.

If you are interested in studying on exchange at NC State University, please contact your University's International Office for more information, application instructions, and deadlines.

Exchange students at NC State may take undergraduate or graduate level coursework, depending on their preparation and approval by NC State, but they may not obtain degrees from NC State. If you are interested in obtaining a degree from NC State, please contact the Office of International Services.

ISEP Students:

ISEP students apply through the International Student Exchange Program. ISEP programs are administered the same as all other exchange programs, except with regards to insurance. ISEP students are not required to purchase the NC State Health Insurance Policy, rather ISEP Students are required to purchase the ISEP health insurance prior to leaving home.

Students with Dependents:

Please note that dependents are only allowed on NC State University Exchange programs under special circumstances. Please contact the NC State Study Abroad Office with any questions regarding dependents.
