Faculty Insurance Policies

The Study Abroad Office (SAO) requires all Faculty Directors leading NC State study abroad programs to be enrolled in the HTH Worldwide insurance policy for the duration of their program.*  This is the same policy in which students are enrolled, as required by the UNC System.

Faculty Insurance Coverage on programs in which the budget is administered by the SAO (full service):

  • Insurance coverage for faculty directors and students is included in the program budget.
  • The faculty director should submit to the SAO an Insurance Enrollment Form for all program staff (program assistants, co-directors) on the program, no later than 2 weeks prior to the start of the program.
  • The Study Abroad Office will enroll all program staff and students, and provide the director hard copies of the insurance cards prior to departure.

Faculty Insurance Coverage on programs in which the budget is administered by the academic department or other administrative unit (limited service):

  • Insurance coverage for faculty directors and students is billed to the faculty directors.
  • Directors are expected to submit student rosters and faculty rosters for all program staff (program assistants, co-directors) on the program to the SAO no later than 2 weeks prior to the start of the program.
  • Payment must accompany the rosters. Payment options include:
    • Full insurance payment by the director on behalf of all of the program participants.
      • The SAO accepts cash (exact change only), check or money order made payable to NC State in U.S. funds drawn on a U.S. bank; no credit cards are accepted.
    • Interdepartmental Transfer
      • Faculty submit department bookkeeper’s contact information (name, email and phone number) to the SAO
